In Japanese culture, there is little or no demand for second-hand goods. There is, however, a compulsion to own the newest and best. This means that many perfectly good, high-cost, little-used, items are exported. This includes pianos. The UK has been importing used pianos from Japan for many years, primarily the Yamaha U-series pianos. It's been Yamaha's most successful instrument, produced in large numbers over many years. The Yamaha U series pianos enjoy an enviable reputation with amateur and professional pianists alike. For many, the Yamaha U series piano is a favourable option to a small grand piano.

A good Yamaha U-series piano provides outstanding quality and value for money. The Yamaha U-series piano is probably one of the most significant pianos of modern times and has been produced without a break over the last 50 years.

You cannot gauge the age of a Yamaha U series piano by its appearance alone. Virtually all the Yamaha U series pianos imported are finished in black polyester. There are, however, three grades of quality - A, B and C. I import only A grade pianos and keyboards and this means that my Yamaha U Series pianos ...
